Use Caution With Free Registry Programs

If your Windows-based computer is operating much slower than when you first purchased it, crashes for no apparent reason or you experience a number of error messages, you may need to clean your registry.

The registry is a database repository of your computer's configuration and continues to grow as you use Windows and add programs. Unfortunately the registry also contains obsolete files left over from deleted programs and files and other unnecessary information. Over time the Windows registry becomes fragmented and cluttered and causes the system's performance to become slow and sluggish.

If the system's registry become corrupted as a result of accidental deletion or some other problem, the computer will not boot.

As a result it is extremely important to use a properly programmed and dependable registry cleaner. Bad low-end clones can delete improper files. If you have not heard of a software company, don't download the program unless you do so from a well-known download site.

Another serious issue related to free registry programs is the danger posed by hackers. Hackers know there are people who will search the Internet for free programs. They embed spyware, viruses and other dangerous programming into their “free” software.

The most recommended and trusted registry-cleaning software are those that must be purchased, however there are a few available for the budget-impaired.
